SEC left a side door open for stock tokens
On 17 September 2026 in Washington, the SEC issued release 2026-90. The order grants temporary permission, with conditions, so venues can trade tokenized NMS stock, shares that already list on the big US exchanges, using permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools. The venue picks who trades. Call that a visitor badge. The permission runs five years after the order is published.
Why it matters: tokenized-securities venues now have a five-year window to run these token pools. This is mixed for crypto token prices, which still have to find their own buyers.
Dinari posted on X after the order. We will keep eyes on the comment file, then on the first pool that switches on.

Bitcoin tagged the mid-80ks and walked it back
Bitcoin pushed through the mid-$80ks this week, then walked some of it back. The daily path printed about $86,597, then $86,183, then $84,382. This morning the live print is $84,071. Back on 18 September 2026 that bucket sat near $76,371, and the gap from there to this morning is still +10.08%, with the walk-back from $86,597 already inside the week's gain.
Why it matters: buyers bounced bitcoin off the prior ~$76k area, and price came back off the mid-$80ks. This is a mixed tape.
The Kobeissi Letter posted the climb on X. We will keep eyes on $84k while the walk-back is still underway, and on the mid-$80ks if price turns back up. We remain in a fast week, and our systems still see chop.

Conclusion
From these points we conclude:
Five-year stock-token trial
The SEC opened a five-year permissioned trial for tokenized US shares. Token prices still need their own buyers.
Bounce, then a walk-back
Bitcoin is about 10% above last week's ~$76k print after tagging the mid-$80ks and walking back to $84,071. Mixed tape.
